Badger culling in England is set to end within five years. Instead of being culled, the new TB eradication plan involves badgers being vaccinated, as well as increasing research into a bovine vaccine. The TB strategy currently costs taxpayers more than £100 million every year to deal with outbreaks. A new ‘badger vaccinator field force’ will be set up to increase the number of badgers vaccinated and the impact of the vaccinations will be continuously analysed, to assess their efficacy and the prevalence of the disease in the population.

For over 20 years, I have worked as an Independent Ecologist and Protected Species Surveyor, conducting ecological surveys across a diverse range of habitats. My experience spans a variety of projects, including Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRAs) for SPAs, SACs, and RAMSAR sites, as well as work on wind turbines (both small and large), solar parks, pipelines, and road schemes. I am based in Cumbria and I have extensive expertise in bird and bat survey methodologies, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments for every project.
