Pale Tussock Moth

The pale tussock moth Calliteara pudibunda is a species found in Europe and parts of Asia. Its caterpillars are notable for their striking appearance, featuring a yellow-green body with long, hair-like tufts. These caterpillars can be quite hairy and may cause skin irritation if handled.

Adult moths have a pale, fuzzy appearance, with wings that can blend into their surroundings. The species is typically active from late spring to early summer. The larvae feed on various broadleaf trees and shrubs, making them a common sight in gardens and forests.
