Knott Rigg

Knott Rigg is a mountain located in the Lake District, in the county of Cumbria, England. It is part of the western fells, situated between the valleys of Newlands and Buttermere. Knott Rigg is positioned to the southwest of the village of Buttermere and to the northeast of the town of Keswick.

It lies near its higher neighbor, Robinson, and is often climbed as part of a circuit that includes other nearby peaks like Ard Crags and the aforementioned Robinson. The summit of Knott Rigg offers scenic views of the surrounding fells and lakes, including Buttermere and Crummock Water.

For over 20 years, I have worked as an Independent Ecologist and Protected Species Surveyor, conducting ecological surveys across a diverse range of habitats. My experience spans a variety of projects, including Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRAs) for SPAs, SACs, and RAMSAR sites, as well as work on wind turbines (both small and large), solar parks, pipelines, and road schemes. I am based in Cumbria and I have extensive expertise in bird and bat survey methodologies, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments for every project.
